Christmas Spirit

Finally I get a chance to update my blog. I have been checking in on everyone, but I just didn’t have the time to sit down and compile a blog .

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my new great grandchild and the comments on my not looking old enough to be a great -grandmother.  Friends let me tell you some days I really do feel the part.  Hayden Matthew is doing just great and his Mom is doing a terrific job with him.  For a kid who had never changed a diaper, it looked like it came to her so natural.   He was a week old yesterday. As I told you all before he makes 5 generations of us and I had thought about taking a picture and putting it in the local paper, do you think that is too corny?

Lets get to the title of my blog, I am trying to get into the Christmas spirit.  Yesterday I took the day off from my Dr’s job because it was so warm and decided to hang Christmas Lights.  It was around noon when I went outside and started untangleing the mess I had made when I put them away last February.!!!!   Finally they are untangle and husband comes out and says do you need help?  Me being the independent woman I am I said if you want to.  He said who’s going to hold the ladder for you??? Well if you go back to last years blog I was dangling 25 feet alone on that ladder. LOL   So I said yes that would be so nice , (remember he is retired now and I need to keep him moving.)  the only thing is he has all these ideas on how to hang them and for 42 years I’ve been hanging them and they looked just fine. So I climbed the ladder as he held it for me fearing he might get an idea and walk away I was nice and hung them on the hooks the way he suggested. LOL  One of our neighbors came by and said "John I thought you are suppose to be on the ladder" and John’s reply was "I don’t trust her"!!!! Can you believe that?  I did not get offended because you see he is such a smart ass.  Anyway, I ran out of hooks and could not finish. Supposely he is going to do it for me today??? Will Let you know. The main thing I was wondering while I am here at work who is going to hold the ladder for him???

I have bought some Christmas presents, but still have a lot to do.  Every Christmas eve I have the kids over for their meal, because everyone is so busy Christmas Day.  Being raised on the Chespeake Bay one of our traditions is to have steam shrimp as part of our meal and the kids love it.  I have purchased the shrimp so come on Christmas eve.  My WV friends think I am a little strange for having shrimp at Christmas, but hey where I was raised if it didn’t have fins, feathers, or shells we didn’t eat.  MY dad was a commercial fisherman for years and we pretty much ate what he caught.  As I got older I fell in love with beef!!! STeaks, steaks, steaks such a welcome change when I discoverd it. LOL

I have visited or as I like to say blog snooping other sitesand they are so pretty decorated for Christmas, I don’t know how they do it, I can hardly add a picture. When and if I get the time I may try, not for Christmas, maybe Valentines Day, Easter???? We will see.

Anyway have a good rest of the week and wish me luck with my Christmas decorating. I will try to publish pictures.

I used to hang my own christmas lights because that was the only way they ever got hung with first hubby.  Present hubby is pretty good to hang them if I ask because he knows if he doesn\’t, I will just do it my own self.  I am glad to hear the baby and his Momma are doing well.  I don\’t think a 5 generation picture would be "cheesy" at all!!  I think that is a great idea!!

Have a good weekend, my friend.

We used to always have scalloped potatoes and ham, but last year we had shrimp scampi and prime rib and that went over pretty well. I hope we do that again, because it was yummy and a nice change of pace.

Good luck with the light hanging. I have taken a huge step and decorated my house on the inside for the first time ever. It may take a few more years before I do anything on the outside!!
