Bye Bye Caddy ???

Well as the title says I did it I got another car and left my beloved caddy sitting!!!  Just had to do it, gas hog that she is, but what a ride she is. Nothing rides like a caddy. I did not trade her because they didn’t want to give me enough trade as to what she is worth. So, I’m going to try and sell her on my own if they can pry the keys out of my hand. LOL

I’ve driven it for 6 years and not once has she left me on the side of the road , always started unless I forgot to put gas in it. (which I did once!!) Now she is just sitting looking sad that I don’t even get in and start her up.  My neighbor wants her but I don’t know if I can stand seeing someone else drive her.  Ok, hubby says :"Pat its over and you need to get over it and sell the damn car" LOL So I put the For Sale sign in it and patted her and told her how much I was going to miss her. I know I’m crazy but I’ve enjoyed that vehicle so much. It can haul anything from groceries to 3 bails of hay!!!! Now can a Jetta do this? I think not!

Yes that what hubby bought me a Jetta Diesel and I must say even though its low to the ground, I really like it. I haven’t told my hubby that yet. I’m going to let him feel guilty for a little while for making me give up the caddy. It handles like a dream and it gets 46 miles to the gallon open highway, where as the caddy only got 14?  So. even though I won’t be riding in my caddy I won’t be bitching when I go to the gas station once every three weeks!! Yipeee.

Here is are a couple of pictures of my Caddy and the new kid in the driveway:

UPDATE:  Big Screen TV will be back Monday after only 5 weeks in the shop!!!! Now I can play Wii and not squint my eyes to see what I;m doing.  Suppose to be here Monday.

More news I’m going home for Christmas this year. I have not been home for Christmas for 29 years this year would be the 30th year. I wanted Mom, and my sister and myself all be together one more time, I may go before Mom, but Mom is 81 and I think we should all be together one more time.  I’m so excited, just sharing memories of our child hood, our kids younger Christmases and things they did.  All of my kids live pretty close, but hers are scattered and I’m sure as well as myself we will have a good time.   I plan on leaving on the 23rd and coming back on the 27th .  Its about 450 miles from here and I’m excited as a kid waiting for Santa.  I plan on having Christmas early with my own children.  Just hope there is not a big snow when I get ready to head out. I cannot believe I said hope there is no snow, I love snow.  Anyway I’m making my plans and getting shopping done early so I will have every one taken care of before I go.

My boss had a wonderful time in Australia, he said it was beautiful.  He said it reminded him (Sydney) of New York City only cleaner and no beggers or homeless people on the street. Very busy.  He did bring me back a great t shirt.  It was embroided with all the animals of Australia on it.  He knows how I love animals. I had a matching jacket and it all looks great. Thanks Bill.

Don’t forget Vetrans Day on Tuesday.  If you see a vet thank them for their service , if you see an older vet give them a hug, Remember as the song says : "All Gave Some, Some Gave ALL"  God Bless all Vets.

Well I got to get off here and get ready for the day, my only day off this week. I don’t think I’m going to work so much around the house today, got an invite for lunch so its out the door I go.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.
As Ever
Pat

    Good morning Pat,
That is a nice looking car…I know we get used to our old things and it\’s hard to get rid of them…but at least you will be saving money on gas that\’s one good thing and Im sure you will get used to it.  It\’s getting cold here brrrr, after a week of Indian summer, I don\’t like it much…glad you are going home for Christmas, that\’s what I used to do every year when my mom was alive…well I will be here for Christmas and New Year, but disappearing right after for Florida again, so take good care my friend and enjoy your Sunday…xxhugs, Pauline

  3. Beth says:

Great looking cars, both of them.  I have never heard of a Jetta but for 46 mpg I sure would take a look.

  4. Windows Live says:

Het there girl, one good car deserves another, VW Jetta, good car and qutie reliable I hear, I had to give up my Subaru BAJA for
a Suzuki Grand Vitara, my Dad lives with us and he could not get in or out of the BAJA without help, so bye bye 4cyl and hello
SUV with 6cyl. more gas but he can get in & out alone.  Its hard, but, life goes on and soon you will wonder why it took so long to change vehicles, esp. with gas mileage and price at the pumps.
You enjoy the holidays with the family, the memories are worth the trip, keeping fingers crossed for good weather for your trip.
Take care my friend, hugs and God Bless, Bonnie

NEVER shall I give up my Papa Smurf Blue, 82 Ford, 1/2 ton pick-up!  NEVER ya hear, LOL!  I am placing flags for you at the Veterans Memorial on Veterans Day, I blogged about it.  Patsy, you are the best!
    Love ya,
    Al

I loved reading that because I feel that way about my cars.  I gave up my Saturn, \’96, it was a he, his name is Zack..but now he is Zack, the Elder Statesman.  I let him go live with a work friend who treats him well.  He gets 27 mpg.  I had him 12 years and he only had 64,000 miles on him. (going back and forth to work doesn\’t add up too much) My new car, a Toyota is the first girl car.

  7. Ms Noanie says:

Boy now that\’s quite a difference – a cadillac escalade to a vw jetta.  I went from an Buick Rendesvous SUV to Honda Civic a couple of years ago.  It took some getting used to but not I love zipping around and getting into parking spots that no one else can manage!  I\’m sticking with Honda for now.

That\’s terrific that you\’re going home for Christmas!  I can imagine how excited you must be.  Have a wonderful time and take lots of pictures!

    Be well.  Peace

  16. Jane says:

It is hard letting an old reliable friend go… Think of it as the Caddy is leaving home! Too expensive to keep! You seem to like the new car… You\’ll get used to it and end up feeling the same way over it… but will keep the fond memories of the Caddy.

Enjoy a fantastic Family Christmas. We all used to get together. Now we can\’t as my mother is no loner with us.

  17. Nina says:

    Wow! Both cars are nice

  18. CAROL says:

WOW I know all too well how hard it is to give up the car that was so loyal to you and was yours alone.. I hated to see mine go too.
Looks like you have a wonderful one to drive though. Now let me tell ya.. you are making the right decision on going home to see family. Those will be the best 450 miles you have ever driven and if prices keep dropping the cheapest. NEVER LET MILES COME BETWEEN YOU AND FAMILY!!! Take care and happy Vets day!  : )

  19. sunee says:

Hi Pat…You do have a beautiful car.  Sorry you have to get rid of the caddy, I hate it when we get attached to one car! LOL
I\’m so happy that you will be going home for Christmas, & I bet your mother is excited too.  God Bless…Sunee 🙂

  20. Rambling says:

Have you named the new family member yet?  Is it a male or a female car?By the way, about the stroke you mentioned of your precious pet…what are the symptoms so that I can be forewarned or help someone else here close to home.  Thanks dear..appreciate the comment and yes thank goodness she is better.  Like you, I had extra weeks, 7, with my former girl cat before this one because of a trip to University of Tennessee Veterinary Hospital.  Worth every cent.  She had a decent quality of life for 5 of those weeks.  And we loved on her a lot.  🙂
